The Lower Lodge Diffuser Care Guide: Make Your Diffuser Fragrance Last Longer

The location of your diffuser is key to maximising its scent throw. Choosing a high-traffic area like your hallway or living space will help circulate the diffuser fragrance throughout your home as people walk by. Where not to place a diffuser? Avoid direct sunlight or nearby heat sources like radiators or windows. Heat can cause the oils to evaporate faster, affecting the scent and longevity. 

To ensure your fragrance lasts, while maintaining its intensity, flip your reeds once a week. This method helps re-saturate them and refresh the scent. Just be sure to wipe away any oil that may have spilled to avoid damage to surrounding areas, and always wash hands after performing a reed rotation. 

The number of reeds you use can affect the strength of your fragrance. For a lighter scent, simply use fewer reeds. For a more intense fragrance, or in larger rooms, increase the number of reeds. Adjusting the reed quantity lets you tailor the scent strength to your personal preference, or to suit the size of your space. 

As with heat, direct sunlight can cause your diffuser’s oils to evaporate too quickly, or cause the fragrance to alter. Keep your diffuser out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to preserve the fragrance and ensure it lasts longer. 

To protect your surfaces, you may wish to place your diffuser on a ceramic, glass, or wooden tray. Fragrance oils can sometimes stain or damage surfaces if spilled, so using a tray can help protect your furniture (while adding an extra aesthetic touch). 

When the oil runs low, it’s time to either replace or refill your diffuser. If you choose to refill (an eco-savvy choice), be sure to clean the diffuser thoroughly before adding new oil. Always use fresh reeds too, as this will prevent the fragrance from becoming muddled or weak.
